About Socotra

An Island Unlike Anywhere on Earth

Socotra is often called the “Galápagos of the Indian Ocean” — but that barely scratches the surface. Located off the coast of Yemen, this UNESCO World Heritage site hosts over 700 species found nowhere else on Earth, including the otherworldly Dragon Blood Tree, whose crimson sap and alien umbrella silhouette have inspired legends for millennia.

For most of human history, Socotra was known only to the Socotri people and a handful of intrepid sailors. Today it remains one of the most isolated and biodiverse places on the planet — a living laboratory of evolution, a landscape of astonishing beauty, and a culture of profound depth.

Our Mission

Responsible Access to the Irreplaceable

Visit Socotra was founded by a small team of expedition specialists who spent years building the relationships, permits, infrastructure, and local knowledge required to offer genuine access to this extraordinary island — without compromising its integrity.

Every expedition is designed around deep immersion: small groups, expert guides, and an itinerary that takes you far beyond the obvious. We believe the most profound travel experiences are earned, not packaged.
